Situated in the heart of Southeastern Minnesota in Plainview, Zabel Seeds is a multi-generational family farm and seed business.
We produce seed locally grown on our own farm, as well as with contract growers. Zabel Seeds is the second largest producer of oat seed in Southern Minnesota and largest producer of Royal barley in the world.
Zabel Seeds has a history of producing seed for oats, barley, rye, triticale, soybeans, and even industrial hemp. We continue to adapt to the ever-changing seed industry, but remain strongly rooted in publicly-developed small grains production.
We maintain a high quality standard in our seed processing facility, often producing to Foundation class levels Certified seed. Details like sewing packages evenly and placing labels in an easy-to-read position, along with robotic palletizing ensures an attractive and uniform product appearance.
Zabel Seeds, through its affiliation with Stine Seed Company, LaCrosse Seed (DLF), GDM Mustang Seeds, TriCal Superior Forage, Saddle Butte Ag, Inc. and Werner Farm Seed also carries a wide assortment of annual and perennial grasses, alfalfa and cover crops.
Whether for cash crop production or for cover crops, as producers’ needs continue to evolve, Zabel Seeds will continue to have products to match those needs.
